Artifact and Lore Items
General Information
All these items, while being named different, technically functionally act the same. They are important items to Warcraft's lore to varying degrees. Legendaries are well...Legendary quality items, some with a great degree of Lore behind or are important enough to the Blizzard/Warcraft universe to be considered Legendary quality.
Major Lore Weapons are weapons with a good chunk of lore behind them but are not considered Legendary weapons for whatever reason. Minor Lore Weapons are important items but don’t have a lot of lore behind them. Mostly this comes from either the name, the boss the item dropped from or because of something said on an external source, like Wowpedia or a book.
Sub classes are things like the WoD Legendary Rings, The Time Twisted Weapons or the Sha Weapons. These can be any of the three above types but are special because they played some sort of role in the expansion they were released in.
As a note, Legion Legendaries will not be included in this list, as there are over 200 of them.
The Rules
- These items are not to be used to Powergame or to Godmod
- While we understand the impact and importance these items have to you or others around you, that is not an excuse to use them to “Pridegame” (Pridegaming is the act of boasting and gloating about something that you have or did either ICly or OOCly consistently, and it's typically used as a way to show you are better than someone or something)
- We expect you to be active with these Artifacts/Lore items, if you go inactive for an indefinite amount of time the staff is at liberty to take away the item.
- PvP Events, these items can be used in pvp but their effects may not be and it is up to the DM discretion to allow that. Artifact Wielders should not be using these weapons to PVP unless agreed upon or in a storyline that deals with players fighting each other.
- PvP (non-events), we ask that when it comes to player versus player PVP that a level of moderation is maintained and these weapons are not used to trump an opponent
- Lore-breaking, some of these weapons have a lot of lore behind them, and some of them do not and need staff provided custom lore to make sense of them, whatever the case may be it is not acceptable to add additional lore to the item, nor is it acceptable to say the item can do more than what is stated without first talking to the staff.
We take these offenses very seriously and if we find you breaking these rules it will result in one or many of the following:
- A warning
- The lore item being taken away
- Any future possibility of acquiring a lore item being heavily scrutinized
- Potentially a temporary ban (Only with extreme cases of Godmodding/Powergaming or Lore breaking)
Updated FAQs
(Thanks to Talona again for creating the original FAQ)
1. If I have an Artifact/Lore item does that mean I can’t get a second one?
A: For Artifacts, a player may only have one per character. A Player in total is allowed to have 3 artifacts across 3 separate characters. For Legendaries/Lore Weapons, we prefer people just have one to keep other’s open for others. This does not count items that come in sets, like the Eredar’s Prince set.
2. If I get an Artifact/Lore item and I do not want it anymore, can I give it to someone else?
A: No, you are not allowed to give it to someone else. We try to avoid these scenarios because oftentimes they can end up circulating (unintentionally or not) in the same group of people. If you no longer want to use your lore item, or want to allow someone else a chance to get it please make a CTS, and the staff will talk to you about options.
3. Do I have to do an event for an Artifact/Lore item?
A: Yes. Most Artifacts/Lore Weapons will need some sort of event to obtain them. They cannot be obtained “off screen”. We do count ceremonies of NPCs or even Players granting someone an item as an event, though these should only be used when those items are in the hands of friendly factions OR a player passing the weapon on to someone else. To obtain an artifact it can only be one event. It cannot be an event line
4. If I break the rules, and get temporarily blacklisted from having a lore item, does that mean I will be unable to get a lore item at any time? What about the legion artifacts?
A: Part 1: When we blacklist we try to make it temporary, but we do take into account past transgressions when we look into related inquiries with lore items. That does not mean you can never get a lore item, but that we will be looking heavily into previous transgressions.
A: Part 2: As for Legion Artifacts, at this time we have neither created a list for or against artifact wielders, we are trying to keep that as open because of the many artifacts that must be accounted for, that being said we still intend to look into past transgressions, so please be mindful of the very few rules we have for lore items.
5. Why were some items removed? Why are some not on here?
A: Some items were removed because despite being Minor Lore Weapons...they did not have a lot of Lore Behind them. The WoD Challenge mode weapons were removed because not alot of interest was shown in them. The models however can still be used to create Artifacts and Lore Weapons. Some have also not made the list because this list is ever changing and is updated constantly.
6. Can I make myself an Artifact/Lore item?
A: Yes, however a CTS is required to run it by the staff, as well as any additional requirements the staff may apply to the specific custom lore item. When we say lore items we mean items of power as well as lore. Custom Artifacts have their own special application which is posted above.
