Hey guys, wanted to make a quick announcement over an issue that has been coming up recently regarding second and third gen Death Knights. Since Blizzard has muddled the waters greatly at what separates the two, the staff has decided to come in and settle it with our interpretation. Basically the difference between them will be how the Death Knight in question "fell"
Second Gen Death Knights where living beings who obtained a vampiric runeblade and gradually fell into undeath. They did NOT go free at Light's Hope and instead where freed when the Lich King fell. There are and may be some cases of secone gens who where freed during Light's Hopes but these are few and far between and mostly lore characters who played special roles over the course of the Wrath storyline.
Third Generation Death Knights where slain and then raised by the Lich King into undeath. These Death Knights can have been given or acquired vampiric runeblades. They rebelled at Light's Hope as per the Wrath quest line.
