			No one knew why the city was locked down, only that it was said to be best for everyone. Still, Boralus was less paranoid than Drustvar and she found herself doing more readings than ever within the city. This allowed her to earn and contribute - even if it wasn't required. Just in case, she kept up the makeup and blindfold to hide her mismatched eyes. She, more or less, kept to herself until that oh-so-familiar ship sailed into port, followed by another with the banners of a blue lion.

			At that moment, she couldn't help but laugh to herself, looking down to yet another drawing of 'death' in her hands.

			Elysse didn't really introduce herself to the champions until they were well on their way to solving Drustvar's problem. Then, and only then, did she poke her head out to start discovering about the world she had left behind. She learned her family had died in the cataclysm, with Duskhaven sinking. She learned Gilneas was under control and attack by a race known as 'Forsaken', as well as the Horde in general. She saw the true witches that Drustvar would fear, and laughed at how unlike her at all they really were. Still, she helped where she could, even picking up a new art in druidis - becoming a fledgling Thornspeaker.

			She would begin to make friends with the Alliance and, at last, make another move in her life. With Drustvar free and mostly clear...she sold the cabin, brought an island called Hayward, and left the mark of her married life behind.

			Now she helps with trying to clear Gilneas and it's neighboring lands from the Horde threat while making friends...including a new pet known as Skoll.

			For sixteen years Elysse separated herself from society. One could say she grew bitter - but she never really held it against the townsfolk. However, she found herself harassed by her neighbors who thought they had something to prove. So, she did what she felt was best to protect herself.

			She played into it.

			Using makeup, an enchanted blindfold off the black market in Boralus, and a the bones of dead animals, she made her home and herself look like a 'witch'. Pale skin and the ability to 'see' while blindfolded scared away the cowards. Meanwhile a bit of smoke and mirrors would scare off the rest. Not that this didn't backfire, more than once she was chased back to her cabin in the woods by so-called witch hunters who were no more than people with a desire to spill any blood. One such encounter left a bolt of a crossbow grazing her inner thigh.

			Her in-laws, bless their souls, would send monthly supplies to her knowing she wasn't ready to leave the quiet of the woods for the city. So she lived, known as the Witch in the Woods, who would hex your loved ones and curse them to a slow, painful death like her husband.

			Still, sometimes a scorned lover would find their way to her - and she would read the cards for them. She would be paid in connections, home-cooked meals, gold, or trinkets that would otherwise be discarded. She would trade and give away her payments to those who seemed to need the most. In this, she found joy - and hearing how her readings were true, she would start to find faith in the cards. Faith in herself. Faith in the fates. She had, perhaps ten years in to her isolation, accepted that she was a proxy of the fates. A vessel to put people on the right path, and one who would know when her life was meant to change.

			So she endured for six more years - until she drew a new card: Death.

			That very day she packed her bags and made for Boralus. Her in-laws were overjoyed to see her - and accepted her into their home just in time, for the next day no one was allowed out of Boralus.

			Twelve years of marriage had passed by, and how it ended wasn't the ending she had saw for either of them. She had always thought it would be a fire to burn up, but now the snails pace that finally killed the last bit of protection she had.

			He fell sick - it wasn't sudden, but at the same time it came out of nowhere. He had developed a cough, and as time passed his lungs could handle less and less. They had all chalked it up to him getting older, though there were a few murmurings of a curse or hex by his 'witch of a wife'. Those who knew the family knew that was an outright lie. It was then Elysse started to learn the expression 'fine until they're not'.

			He was fine, then he wasn't.

			One day, he couldn't get up from the bed. He could barely breath - his skin was growing pale and he was thinning rapidly. Elysse called for anyone and everyone. The doctors with their herbs and books couldn't figure out what sickness afflicted him. They tried cure after cure, going as far as to let his him bleed - but nothing. His once bronzed skin drew ghostly pale and his fluffy head of auburn hair drained of color, then grew brittle and thin. After the doctors came the priests of Light that she never prayed too. No amount of prayer or light changed a thing beyond giving him moments of clarity. Then came the Tidesages, who all agreed the only thing they could do was be on standby to return his spirit to the sea as his muscles grew atrophic. The last was a woman also accused of being a witch, coming to Elysse when no one else could or would to offer her comfort.

			It was here she started to pick up the cards and put her faith in the fates. For a long, agonizing month, the two would talk, watch over the man, and do what they could to care for him. Every day, Elysse ran through each card to find their meaning until she knew them by heart. It was something to do at least. It was on the day she drew the Tower at random, that she heard that last, shuddering breath from the bed. Then silence. The woman, her mentor, gifted her the deck she had practiced with before moving on, knowing her presence would not be welcomed.

			Once she was sure the woman was gone, Elysse called for the tidesages. This soul was sent off...and his body burnt. She was put in quarantine for two months to ensure whatever illness had taken hold of him would not spread. Elysse never had so much as a sniffle - and that further fueled the suspicions of the townsfolk. One her last trip into town - she was met with a mob. Out of the kindness of their heart, she ad advised to never come near them again.

			Life was good in Drustvar...at first. Elysse settled into her life well enough, but...Drustvar was a paranoid place full of paranoid people. Normally her husband, a guardsman, would just bring home what was needed when he was done with his shift, however there started to come times where he would be posted in Boralus itself or, worse, away for weeks at a time escorting ships. It was during one of her trips into town that her different colored eyes were noticed - and not in a positive light. Stories of witches still gripped the more superstitious folk and whispers began to follow.

			It would figure that one of the, unbeknownst to the family, last ships that would be seen from Kul Tiras would pull into port. Here, Elysse would meet and hit it off with a Kul Tiran man named Alaric and spend most of her free time getting to know him and the half of her culture she'd never seen. Most everyone saw it coming when he proposed with a cheap ring and she accepted. They would have one ceremony in Gilneas for her family and friends to attend, then a second in Drustvar for his family and friends.

			Her father knew the day would come, but her mother was besides herself with worry for her chances of seeing any future grandchildren - though that anguish turned into anger when she was informed the two weren't going to rush into a family. It took time, and a bit of a bitter ceremony, but everything went off without an issue. The two were married, and Elysse would start to pack up and leave the only home she'd ever known.

			The journey by ship lasted a while, by Elysse felt freer than ever, if a little sick from a lack of sea legs. Still, they would arrive in Kul Tiras where she would meet his family. Her in-laws were great, as were her brother and sister-in-laws. The second ceremony was much more joyous than the first, and the two would settle in Drustvar not long after. It was a modest house deep in the woods, near enough to a city to reach it within ten minutes, but far enough away it was private.

			Upon entering her pre-teen years, she would join her father in his line of work, much to the disappointment to her mother. The few times she was forced to attend with her mother at a birth, Elysse would get violently ill - unable to stomach the miracle of birth. After two times of the younger girl running out - and swearing off children forever - she was let free of further duties.

			She would learn the ways of carpentry, stone masonry, animal husbandry and really anything and everything the town needed help with. It kept her busy when not in school - and kept her somewhat out of trouble. She wasn't all work all the time and still found ways to get up to trouble, such as sneaking in while a 'rival' and their family was away, and nailing all their furniture to the ceiling of their house. To say she was a daddy's girl was an understatement, and she strove to be like him. Though, she wasn't wholly unlike her mother, as was shown when she neared the age of eighteen.

			All things considered, her younger years were very unremarkable. Her parents worked hard, with her father being a handy man and her mother being a midwife. Though Elysse wished she had had siblings in later years, it never effected her in a negative way.
