Being the only boy in the middle of three sisters, Aidan not only had an unusual relationship with his siblings but a highly stressful one with his father. Lucas Medren sincerely hoped that his son would succeed him in the family business, and despite Aidan's initial dislike for the long hours and grueling work of the blacksmith's trade he was trained as an apprentice and became quite skilled. It was Lucas' wish that he take over the trade some day, inheriting the old stone-brick shop that had served Medren blacksmiths for generations. Aidan saw himself as a hero, though at the time he was little more than a muscled street tough, and Matt his roguish partner- a Robin Hood, stealing from the rich to share with a young boy and his younger sister.
